Bad Shingles

Word of the Day

Abolical - Something loathsome or unusually cruel perhaps associated with dire misfortune.

Normally, I adopt a live and let live attitude when it comes to the wildlife here at The Lake...unless the wildlife becomes a nuisance. The bird that decided to build a nest over my front door on the narrow space provided by the transom window became a REALLY messy nuisance. I had to drag out the 12-foot ladder to clean up the mess. Mud all over the window, building material all over the place. Bird dropping. Ewww! Sorry bird, you'll have to choose another spot.

Meanwhile, the estimate for our roofing project this year is way over what we were expecting....worst case scenario. Major ouch. It needs doing but....wow! HTP isn't happy. I'm not happy. But, we don't have a choice. We need new shingles. These shingles come with a lifetime warranty so, knock on wood, we'll never have to do this again. I wish our insurance had covered at least part of the cost.

And....full stop on the roof project. We need to do more research. I need to have the contractor give me a full price breakdown for the shingles that we picked out and on three other kinds of shingles that may save us some money. HTP is going to have to make the decision. It's not like we have a choice when it comes to who to pick as a roofer out here in the back of beyond.

Random Quote of the Day
